Just me again

Just me...its been awhile, eh?

Yeah, life got busy.

Foot is better, so back to work,

back to gym.

Back to having a life.

And its a fantastic one at that!

the girls glammed it up for a food and wine night.

Food was great.

Wine was excessive.

 Yesterday afternoon, I took the kid for drive to Wellington Point.

We took our cameras for a "photo shoot" as the kid kept saying.

It was absolutely stunning, the weather was just perfect.

Bee wanted to use my camera to take a photo of me.

She put the strap over her head and yelled

"I'm a professional!!!"

Concentration

Bee was insisting on cooking me breakfast.

So, she got everything she needed out...

cracked the eggs and whisked them.

After adding a few 'secret' ingredients,

she then made us scrambled eggs for breakfast.

It was sooo good!

One wet and dreary day...

One wet and dreary day we took a drive

up to the Sunshine Coast.

And saw this.

I am loving fruit at the moment.

Pretty much anything I can get my hands on.

I have nashi pears, apples, nectarines, bananas, oranges,

grapes, cherries, kiwi fruit and pineapple.

Oh, and peaches.

Mmmmmmm.

Broken Ankle update

 So its been 8 weeks and 3 days since I broke my ankle.

8 long weeks.

The pic above shows the scar on my inside ankle.

Under this one is 2 screws holding the tip of my tibia on.

Its 6cm long.

Yes, I measured it with a ruler.

 Cankle anyone?

 Right leg has lost ALOT of muscle tone.

Shame my other leg isn't this skinny.

This scar is the biggie.

Its 10cm long.

Underneath it, you can feel plates and screws holding the tip of my fibula on.

Ew.

Overall, pain is at an absolute minimum.

Unless I stand on it - which I'm allowed to do now.

Had my first physio session yesterday, it was soooo painful.

Am going back tomorrow and Friday.

Yes, I suppose that makes me a masochist.

Am trying to walk with crutches, it is slow going but I know I'll get there.

Its learning to walk all over again, learning to trust in myself and my ability to do it.

Its hard.

I don't like it.

This beautiful face...

This beautiful face is the face of an angel.

This is the little girl who has helped me so much over the last 8 weeks.

This is the little girl who now wants to cook independantly, cleans the kitchen, sweeps and vacuums the floor...

She pretty much much wants to do anything she can to help her Broken Ankle mum.

So sweet.

I can't wait to give her her thankyou surprise when I can walk.

And so the broken ankle went shopping....

 Yesterday we went shopping.

Bundled up the broken ankle into a wheelchair (ick) and went shopping.

Bought a noice dress.

$150 marked down to $35.

Portmans, you rock.

But wait folks, it gets betterer.

I bought a size smaller than what i thought I'd need.

And obviously, it fits.

And yes, I'm hanging on for dear life.  

Thanks very much for that broken ankle.

Think I'm going to have to buy me some sparkly pink Converse

to go with this dress.  

Such a shame they don't make them with heels...

*sigh*

And peaceful.

Broken ankle shoes go walkabout

These shoes
get around!!!!
They hobbled from home to the car.
They hobbled from the car to a lookout.
Then from the lookout to the car.

Then from the car to the teapottery, ice creamery and lollery (the lolly shop)
They then hobbled from the lollery back to the car.
Then (you guessed it!) from the car back to my house.
Exciting stuff, huh?Maybe saying 'these' shoes is all wrong???
Considering I can pretty much only wear one.
Hmmm.

The Broken Ankle bench

Ahh

No idea what on earth posessed me to take a photo of this
old, worn, tired bench.
Perhaps it was because it was such a relief to sit on it and rest
the broken ankle.
Or maybe because it offered a fantastic view.
Or maybe because it was interesting because it has character.
Whatever.
I love how this one turned out.

Thongs

What could be more aussie than thongs?
Only BBQ's, flies, the summer heat....this list could get long.
They're not my thongs, and that isn't my hairy foot.
In fact, that is a right foot.
And well, my right foot is far from normal looking right now.

The man in my life took Bee and I for a drive.
To Mt Tamborine.
So I could have a play with my new camera.
And play I did.
And play.
And play.
And play.

Even the Broken Ankle converse shoes got an outing.
And a photo while they were taking in the view.

I've had to ditch the high heels.
So, I though if I have to ditch the high heels
then I'm going to get fabulous, supportive, flat shoes.
And here they are.
Not quite as fabulous as 'THE' shoes
but still pretty fabulous.
And they provide great ankle support.
Not that I can even get a shoe onto the foot that needs it most.
Oh well.
Maybe next week.

Bee received a kids cooking book for christmas last year
and was desperate to cook something from it.
So, she made scones.With a bit of jam and cream, they were sooooooo good!
We're going to make some more tomorrow.

You know I love my candles, so I thought the flickering of the flame would be perfect for the slower shutter speed.

Kinda cool...can't wait to play with longer exposures when I'm out and about.

Oooh loving my new camera!
I just wish I could get outside to play with it a bit more.
Or to go for long drives and walks and just be a shutter bug.
So, because I'm confined to the indoors, I had to use what I had available to me to play with the settings on the camera.
The bathroom sink was perfect. Ish.
Not ideal, but I can see that what I wanted to happen with the camera did indeed happen.

Now I just need to get me a real waterfall....

A weeee bit exciting - I just need to learn all the functions again.
Its been awhile and i'm a weeee bit rusty!

I did have a play with shutter speeds last night.
Will upload these tomorrow.

We have had some dramas here in Brisbane with the floods
but thankfully we were way out of harms way.
The devastation has wreaked havoc in our city, but the rebuild is
already underway thanks to the community.
I have spent the better part of 4 days in front of the TV watching the news.
Total devastation.

Favourite photos...
I was a bit lazy today and didn't get any decent photos.
Being stuck at home, I'm fast running out of material to post,
so I have gone back through a few years worth of photos to show some
of my favourites.
They're not necessarily the best photo's, but they mean something to me.

I like to photograph alot of flowers.
This rose was one flower that was in a massive bunch my mother in law had given to me several years ago.
I used the macro lens, then photoshopped it a bit.
Obviously.

Love the contrast of Bee's dress against the denim of her jacket,
and also against the texture of the tree behind her.

My favourite subject....
The kid.
She wasn't really sad.
She was just pretending.

The main stadium at the brisbane showgrounds....just looked up and though
"wow"

Yet another flower...loving the softness of the petals
against the rough texture of the tree.

I know....its a bit of grossness!
This is how my foot looks after being 'un-elevated' for about 2 minutes.

And an absolutely awful photo of me...
I didn't really eat all the biscuits!

This kept the kid occupied for a good half hour....
Lots of loose change to count!
